THE AESTHETICS OF AN EMOTION: ERKKI TOUKOLEHTO’S DRAWINGS

Does an illustrator need more than his tools? We often say: it takes imagination and talent. All Finnish artist Erkki Ilmari Toukolehto needs is a pencil and paper. That's it. Any other question would be pointless. And so the mind opens towards a continuous, abstract and emotional flow.

Erkki is fascinated by the relationship between line and surface. "In what moment does one become the other?", he asks himself. "And how", he continues, "does my mechanic zigzagging on paper transform the surface into something different and more complex than simple coloration?".
