Back in the 70 s I shot almost exclusively in black & white using Kodak's Pan-X, Plus-X and Tri-X films, developing and printing all my own work. Shooting in black & white is good training and helps develop your "eye" for interesting lines, shapes and compositions. Over the years, I've found that shooting in black and white exercises my creative "muscles" and helps keep them in tone. This is especially true in the winter months when nature's colors are very muted and its easy to become creatively lethargic (lazy).
So this week's images are all going to be black and white. No color to hide behind. Only clean, crisp blacks, whites and of course, lots of shades of gray.

Shot taken with a Canon 40D set on aperture priority (Av), using an EF 17-40mm f/4L USM hand-held. The exposure was taken at 17mm, f/16 for 1/125th of a second at ISO 100 on Sandisk digital film. Post capture processing was done in Lightroom 2 and Photoshop Elements using Nik's Silver Efex Pro filters. Click on the image above for a larger version.
